         Freeport-Mc-MoRan Copper & Gold Inc., the world’s second largest copper producer, had its maximum ore production permit in Indonesia cut 26 percent on environment concerns.
“The government only approves a Freeport ore output this year of 220,000 tons a day to reduce the impact on environment, ”Witoro S. Soelarno, head of mine inspection at the Energy an Mineral Resources Ministry, said. “The previous limit was 300,000 tons a day,” he said.
Phoenix-based Freeport produced on average 229,000 tons of copper and gold ore a day from its Grasberg mine in 2006.
Freeport’s copper ore output in the fourth quarter of 2007 fell to 926 million of recoverable pounds from 1,044 million of recoverable pounds a year earlier, the company said on its Web site. Gold output in the quarter dropped to 186,000 of recoverable ounces from 544,000 of recoverable ounces, it said

          A woman in Zamboanga city gave birth to two children in the space of less than two months in a rare medical occurrence, her husband and hospital spokesman said yesterday.
            Jessica Sabacajan, 24, gave birth to a boy on April 19 in the central island of Cebu, and on May 30 gave birth to a girl, said her husband, Siegfried Sabacajan.
            The air force avionics specialist, 30, said that when his wife visited him at the base where he works here a month after the first birth, he thought her stomach was still rather larger but the couple did not think this unusual until she started suffering stomach pains.
            Ronnie Bucoy, director of the Zamboanga Medical Center, said the two children, both in good health, were not twins but were the result of a rare occurrence called a “double uterus”
            That is a pregnancy where both of a woman’s ova separately hold fertilized eggs. Apparently, one egg was fertilized a month after the other.

 Fire razed four houses in Ambon City late on Friday, but no fatalities were reported.The fire began in one of the four houses and quickly spread to neighboring homes in the densely area of the Skip, Siramau Kota District, Ambon City.Two fire trucks were deployed to the scene and were able to extinguish the blaze after an hour. Local authorities said that the fire was sparked by a short circuit.
